DANIELLE ROSE DOWNING
ABOUT ME
My name is Danielle Rose Downing and I am currently, but not for much longer, a Southern California based studio artist. My passion for all types of art started at a young age and has only grown since. I always dreamed of becoming an animator in a big-name studio, but I have decided to take a different route with my life and share my knowledge of art and basic, traditional animation, with generations to come. Therefore, I will be continuing my education and am planning to obtain a Masters Degree in Teaching of Art over the next few years.
Some of my hobbies outside of art include musical theatre, hiking, camping, and playing with my labrador retriever puppy; you will be able to see that some of these are incorporated into my work.
ABOUT MY WORK
Since a young age, I have been captivated by pieces of art that have made me feel a certain way, whether that was sad, happy, mad, etc., I have always felt as though I connect more to those types of artworks. I found my love for animation after discovering Pixar Animation Studios when I went to a movie theater for the first time, and have strived to create my own works of art that make me feel the same way those films have always made me feel while watching.
Overall, my artwork is driven by personal memories as well as emotion. When creating my artwork, whether it’s animations, character designs, paintings, metal works etc., I find myself going back to these personal experiences or memories, both good and bad, and trying to express that in any way that I can so that the viewer can understand it. Ultimately, my personal goal with my work is for it to be relatable and/or recognizable to the viewer in some way, while also incorporating different things that I love.
